École Polytechnique de Montréal

École Polytechnique de Montréal, a school of applied science in Montreal, which grew out of a course of lectures begun in the Plateau school in 1874. The school was founded in 1876, with four professors; and in 1888 it was affiliated with Laval University [Montreal branch], of which it became virtually the faculty of applied science. When the Montreal branch of Laval University became the University of Montreal in 1919, it then became virtually the faculty of applied science in this university. See O.
