Col. the Rev. Canon J. M. Almond, C.M.G., C.B.E.

ALMOND, Colonel The Rev. Canon J. M., C.M.G., C.B.E., M.A., D.C.L. Montreal. Educated at Bishop's College, Lennoxville, Que. Ordained Sept., 1897. Began his ministry as missionary on the Labrador coast; was attached to the Cathedral at Quebec; served as Chaplain of the 19th Brigade in South Africa, where he took part in twenty-seven engagements, holding the medal and three clasps for the same; at the close of the South African War, he returned to his duties at the Cathedral, and served there until September, 190, when he was offered and accepted the Rectorship of Grand'Mère. Canon Almond began his work as Rector of Trinity Church, Montreal , May, 18, 1904 . Enlisted August; 1914, and appointed Chaplain to the 1st Division Artillery. Received his Majority, 1916, and appointed A.D.C.S. Canadian Corps with rank of Lieut.-Colonel.; in 1917, was appointed Director, Chaplain Services, O.M.F.C. with rank of Colonel. He received the C.M.G. in the field and was awarded the C.B.E. prior to the Armistice. Residence: Montreal.
