Jean-Baptiste Juchereau Duchesnay

Duchesnay, Jean Baptiste Juchereau (1779-1833), legislative councillor of Lower Canada, was born at Beauport, near Quebec, on February 16, 1779; the son of Antoine Juchereau Duchesnay and Catherine LeCompte Dupré. For several years he held a commission in the 60th Regiment; and he commanded a company in the Canadian Voltigeurs at the battle of Châteauguay in 1813. In 1832 he was appointed a member of the Legislative Council of Lower Canada; but he died of cholera at Quebec on January 12, 1833. He married Eliza Jones; and by her he had four children. See P. G. Roy, La famille Juchereau Duchesnay (Lévis, 1903).
