Henry Watson Powell


Powell, Henry Watson (1733-1814), soldier, was born in England in 1733, and entered the British army. He came to Canada in 1776 in command of the 53rd Foot, became a brigadier-general, and was successively in command at Ticonderoga, Montreal, Niagara, and Quebec He returned to England at the close of the American Revolutionary War, and in 1801 became ageneral. He died at Lyme, England, on July 14, 1814.
