Escoumains River

 

Escoumains river, a stream in Saguenay county, Quebec, which flows into the St. Lawrence, 20 miles southwest of Tadoussac. It is about 55 miles long. A few miles east of it is the river called Petits Escoumains, which is 13 miles long. The name is derived from an Indian word meaning "river filled with shells."
