Donnaconna, a town in Portneuf county, Quebec, at the junction of the St. Lawrence and Jacques Cartier rivers and on the Canadian National Railway, 30 miles from Quebec. It derives its name ultimately from the Indian chief Donnaconna whom Jacques Cartier took with him to France in 1535, but more particularly from that of the Donnaconna Pulp and Paper Company, which has built a mill at the mouth of the Jacques Cartier river.
