Causapscal

Causapscal, a parish in Matapedia county, Quebec, at the confluence of the Matapedia and Causapscal rivers, and on the Canadian National Railway, 35 miles north-west of Matapedia. The name is derived from an Indian word meaning "rapid water". The parish, which is in a situation of great beauty, was founded in 1870, and is a well-established centre for general farming and dairying. See L. Closse, Un site enchanteur de la vallée de la Matapédia: Causapscal (Causapscal, P.Q., 1928).
