Mrs Catherine Day, née Townsend

 

Day, Mrs Catherine Matilda, née Townsend (1815-1899), historian, was born at East Farnham, Eastern Townships, Quebec, on January 1, 1815, the daughter of Samuel Wells Townsend and Pamelia Lawrence. In 1840 she married, at Chambly, Henry M. Day (d. 1854) ; and she died at South Stukeley, Eastern Townships, on August 24, 1899. She was the author of Pioneers of the Eastern Townships (Montreal, 1863), and a History of the Eastern Townships (Montreal, 1869).
