Major D. Stuart Forbes, M.C.

 

FORBES, Major D. Stuart, M.C., B.Sci., B. Arch. - Athletic Manager, McGill University, Montreal. Born Toronto, April 23, 1889; son of J. Colin Forbes, R. C. A., and L. Gertrude (Holbrook) Forbes. Educated: Ashbury College; Abingdon; Montreal High School; McGill University (B.Sci. 1911, B. Arch. 1915). Enlisted in ranks of lst University Company, C.E.F. 1915, reinforcing the P.P.C.L.I. in France. Promoted to Commissioned rank and appointed O.C., 7th C.M.G. Co. Awarded M.C. (Ypres, June 2nd, 1916). Twice wounded. Appointed Chief Instructor, Machine Gun School, Seaford. Returned to Canada, June 9, 1919. Commanded 8th C.M.G. Bde. Joined Permanent Forces as Major in R.C.M.G. Bde., resigning to take up present position, July 31st, 1923. Past Secretary, Students' Council, Montreal. Past Instructor in Architecture, McGill University. Assisted in decoration of Sir Arthur Currie Hall, R.M.C. Recreations: General outdoor sports. While at University, played on first Rugby team, basketball team, and boxing. Clubs and Societies: University (Montreal); Canadian; C.M.I.; Epsilon Phi; A.F. & A.M. Married Marian McDonald, Dec. 30, 1916. Presbyterian. Address: McGill University, Montreal.
