Louis Olivier Gamache

 

Gamache, Louis Olivier (1784-1854), pirate of Anticosti, was born at L'Islet, Quebec, in 1784. He became a cabin-boy in the Royal Navy; but after many years spent in the service he returned to Canada, and settled on the island of Anticosti . Here he acquired the reputation of a pirate. He died on the island of Anticosti in September, 1854. See Abbé J. B. A. Ferland, Opuscules (Quebec, 1877).
