Lily Dougall

Dougall, Lily (1858-1923), novelist, was born in Montreal on April 16, 1858, the daughter of John Dougall. She was educated in Brooklyn, New York, and at Edinburgh and St. Andrew's Universities, Scotland. From 1891 to her death she lived in England, with the exception of the years 18971903, which were spent in Montreal. She wrote Beggars all (London, 1891), What necessity knows (London, 1893), The mermaid (London, 1895), Zeitgeist (London, 1895), A question of faith (London, 1895), The madonna of a day (London, 1896), A down ways of love (London, 1897), The Mormon prophet (Toronto, 1899), The earthly purgatory (London, 1904), The Spanish dowry (London, 1906), and Paths of the right eous (London, 1908). She died in October, 1923.
