Henry Faulkner Darnell

Darnell, Henry Faulkner (1831-1915), author and clergyman, was born in London, England, in 1831, the son of Rev. J. Darnell, of Tunbridge Wells. He was privately educated and took holy orders. In 1861 he came to Canada as rector of St. John's, Canada East; and he remained in this charge until 1883, when he became rector of Zion Episcopal Church, Avon, New York . He died at Easton, Pennsylvania, in 1915. While is Canada he contributed both prose and verse to the British American Magazine (1863-4) ; and he was the author of Songs by the way (Montreal, 1862), Verses in memory of the Right Rev. G. I. Mountain, Lord Bishop of Quebec (St. John's, L.C., 1863), and three novels, Philip Hazelbrook, or The junior curate (Buffalo, 1887), Flossy, or A child of the people (Buffalo, 1889), and The craze of Christian Englehart (New York and London, 1890).
