Born Montreal, Dec. 12, 1864, son of William Thomas and Helen (Wilson) Benson. Educated: Uppingham School, Rutlandshire, Eng; University College, Oxford. Became a partner, W. T. Benson & Co., 1885; Director, Edwardsburg Starch Co., 1886; President, 1894-1900, and also Managing Director, 1901-1906. President and Managing Director of Canada Starch Co., a consolidation of Edwardsburg and Brantford Co.'s incorporated, 1906, This company also now owns new Starch Plant at Fort William, Ont. Member, Council, Montreal Board of Trade, 1909-10 and 1912; Treasurer, 1913; President, 1915; Governor, Montreal. Ceneral Hospital . Married Etheldred Norton Frothingham, daughter of George H. Frothingham, Oct. 15, 1890; has two sons and one daughter. Clubs: Mount Royal ; Canada; Hunt; Canadian; Royal Montreal Golf; Royal St. Lawrence Yacht; Thousand Islands Yacht. Recreations: Motor boating, yachting. Conservative. Anglican. Residence: 15 Ontario Ave., Montreal.
