François Vézina

(1818-1882)

 

Vézina, François (1818-1882), banker, was born in Quebec on August 30, 1818. In 1849 he founded the Caisse d'Economie de Notre Dame de Québec, of which he became secretary-treasurer; and in 1859 he was appointed cashier of the Banque Nationale on its foundation. This position he occupied until his death at Quebec on January 25, 1882. He published an Etude historique de la progression financière de la Caisse d'Economie de N.
