Edward Thomas Davies Chambers

 

Chambers, Edward Thomas Davies (1852-1931), journalist and author, was born at Saffron Walden, Essex, England, on June 26, 1852, the son of Edward Thomas Chambers and Louisa Davies. He came to Canada in 1870, and was at first a school-teacher. He then turned to journalism, and in 1897 he became editor-in-chief of the Quebec Daily Chronicle. In his later years he was an official of the department of colonization and fisheries at Quebec. He died at Quebec on October 5, 1931. He was the author of The past of Quebec (Quebec, 1890), Quebec , ancient and modern (Montreal , 1892), Guide to Quebec (Quebec, 1895), The ouananiche and its Canadian environment (New York, 1896), The angler's guide to eastern Canada (Quebec, 1898), The sportsman's companion (Quebec, 1899), and The Quebec centenary commemorative history (Quebec, 1909).
