In 1796 he came to Montreal from England as the authorized Protestant clergyman; and he continued as rector of the parish of Montreal until 1794. He died at Montreal on June 28, 1794. In 1769 he married Margaret Henry; and by her he had three sons and four daughters. At the time of his death he was chaplain to the garrison at Montreal.
