Charles Godfroy DeTonnancour

 

President, Regent Knitting Mills, Ltd., 1202 St. Lawrence Boulevard , Montreal . Born Montreal, Sept. 22, 1872, son of Louis Charles and Marie (Léveillé) De Tonnancour. Educated: Plateau School ; Jesuits College , Montreal . With William Darling & Co., Wholesale Hardware, 1887; Traveller for same firm, 1890-92; Traveller, Squire & Watson, 1892-94; in commission business, carrying samples of Hudson Bay Knitting Co., 1894-1901, during which time established Sultana Manufacturing Co., Manufacturers of Blackings and Polishings, now known as Sultana Limited. Sold to Reckitts, Ltd., Hull, Eng. In partnership with J. D. Ouelette, established Acme Glove Works, 1906; in 1913, established Regent Knitting Mills Ltd., Montreal and St. Jerome, Que. Governor, Notre-Dame Hospital. Served as Volunteer, 65th Regiment. Recreations: Billiards, bowling, fishing and golf. Clubs: Chapleau; Reform; St. Denis; Mattawa; M.A.A.A.; N.A.A.A.; Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf. Liberal in Politics. Roman Catholic. Residence: 58 Cherrier St., Montreal.
