Moose in Newfoundland

The Moose is the largest land mammal of Newfoundland. They are not native to the province. They were, for the most part, introduced into Newfoundland in the first decade of the XXth century. With few predators to prey upon them, and plentiful shrubs and water plants to feed on, they have multiplied to such an extent that they have become a danger to motorists who travel on the roads at night.

Moose along the road are a frequent sight in Newfoundland and the visitor is bound to see some if traveling along country roads throughout the province.
