revised: | Explanation of the Hospital on Point Three of the Internes’ Declaration La Patrie, Monday June 18, 1934, pp. 3, 30 "Given the error in interpreting the vote taken by the Medical Board of Notre-Dame Hospital on May 31 1934, the Medical Board unanimously supports the position taken by the authorities of Notre-Dame Hospital on the disciplinary questions concerning the appointment of internes". It will be remembered that the internes had requested that newspapers publish their official statement. Paragraph three of that statement was misinterpreted. The Medical Board of Notre-Dame Hospital explains it as follows: "the Medical Board unanimously supports the position taken by the authorities of Notre-Dame Hospital on the disciplinary questions concerning the appointment of internes". The Medical Board would not have been apprised of the Jewish question, but it simply approved the Board of Administration on the disciplinary issues, without approving the manner in which the internes acted. The internes would have wrongly interpreted the decision of the Medical Board in thinking that it had approved their manner of seeing and understanding the issue from the point of view of nationality.
