We offer five levels of Spanish. To help you pick the right level, here is a brief description
of the tasks students should be able to carry out by the end of each course.

This is the course for the absolute beginner. If you have taken Spanish in high school, most likely this is not for you. At the end of Spanish I, students should be able to:
introduce themselves and others;

• express greetings and farewells;
• order something to eat and to drink;
• express likes and dislikes;
• find out about other people;
• describe themselves and their family;
• identify and locate places;
• tell time;
• talk and write about daily activities and routine.
  

The only verb tense used in Spanish I is the indicative present.

If you can carry out the above tasks, you should register in a higher level.

This course is the continuation of Spanish I. When students complete it, in addition to the tasks described above, they should be able to:

• give directions and talk about means of transportation;
• make plans;
• use dates, speak about seasons and climate;
• talk and write about events in the past;
• go shopping;
• make comparisons;
• give instructions and advice;
• refer to habitual actions in the past.

The verb tenses used in Spanish II are the indicative present, "pretérito indefinido" and "pretérito imperfecto" and the affirmative and negative forms of the imperative.

Classes are entirely in Spanish.

If you can carry out the tasks of Spanish I and II, you should register in a higher level.

Spanish I and Spanish II are offered every semester.

Ésta es la primera clase de nivel intermedio. Si puedes realizar todas las tareas arriba mencionadas, puede ser la clase para ti. Al terminar la sesión los estudiantes serán capaces de:

• describir en el pasado;
• contrastar el uso del pretérito indefinido y el del pretérito imperfecto;
• hacer el retrato biográfico de una persona;
• expresar deseos y reacciones emotivas;
• hablar de salud, alimentación y enfermedades;
• hablar de y escribir sobre el futuro;
• hacer sugerencias.
  

En este nivel se utilizan los siguientes tiempos verbales: presente, pretérito indefinido pretérito imperfecto, pretérito perfecto y pretérito pluscuamperfecto de indicativo, condicional, imperativo y presente de subjuntivo. También se estudian los pronombres complemento de objeto directo e indirecto.

Si ya puedes realizar todas estas tareas, inscríbete en un nivel superior.

Ésta es la segunda clase del nivel intermedio. Si puedes realizar las tareas y sabes los tiempos verbales enumerados en Spanish III, puede ser la clase para ti. Al terminar la sesión los estudiantes serán capaces de:

• hacer y rechazar una oferta;
• pedirle a alguien que haga algo;
• dar consejos y persuadir a alguien;
• expresar la idea de la duración o de la continuidad de una acción;
• expresar la idea de la necesidad;
• expresar opiniones, sorpresa, agrado, desagrado;
• reaccionar en situaciones sociales;
• expresar suposiciones e hipótesis;
• respetar las reglas de la correspondencia de los tiempos en indicativo y subjuntivo.
