A stem change may occur in verbs
that have an e in the penultimate syllable:
the e changes into ie.
In the present tense, this is the case in all persons, except the
first and second persons plural. These verbs can belong to any of
the three groups (-ar, -er, -ir) and they are regular
as far as the endings are concerned. Here is the conjugation of three
