In 1915 was appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, through the Duchess of Connaught, President of Queen Mary's Needlework Guild in Canada. The Guild, with Headquarters in Montreal; had many Branches in the North-West Provinces, in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and sent over a vast number of articles of clothing and comforts for the soldiers of the Allies, which were received at St. James' Palace and distributed under the supervision of the Queen and Her Committee, to the various Units and Hospitals applying, a large proportion going to the Canadians, in the Field in France, or in whatever country they were serving. Great kindness was shown by the C.P.R. in transporting cases and in helping to facilitate the work of the Guild, which continued throughout the war. Residence: 240 Drummond Street, Montreal.
