William Molson

 

Molson, William (1793-1875), capitalist, was born in Montreal on November 5, 1793, the son of the Hon. John Molson. He was for many years a brewer and distiller in Montreal ; and in 1855 he became first president of Molson's Bank. He was also president of the Champlain Railway Company, and a local director of the Grand Trunk Railway. He died in Montreal on February 18, 1875. He was a governor of McGill University, and was one of its principal benefactors. See B. K. Sandwell, The Molson family (Montreal, 1933).
