Valcartier

Valcartier, a settlement in Quebec county, Quebec, on the Canadian National Railway, 18 miles north of Quebec city. Near it is a training camp of the Canadian militia; and this was used in 1914 as the mobilization-centre of the First Canadian Expeditionary Force. [The Valcartier base was again extensively used by the Canadian army throughout the Second World War.]
