Thomas McGreevy

McGreevy, Thomas (1827-1897), politician, was born in Quebec, Lower Canada, on July 27, 1827, of Irish parentage. He became a contractor, and was president of the Richelieu and Ontario Navigation Company. From 1858 to 1864 he was a member of the city council of Quebec ; and in 1867 he was appointed a member of the Legis­lative Council of Quebec, and was elected a member of the Canadian House of Commons for Quebec West. He resigned from the Legislative Coun­cil of Quebec in 1874, as a result of the abolition of dual representation; but he represented Quebec West in the Com­mons until 1892. In 1892 he was impli­cated in some serious charges of political corruption, and was expelled from the House. He died at Quebec, on January 2, 189.
