Sisters of Ste. Martha of St. Hyacinthe

 

Sisters of Ste. Martha of St. Hyacinthe. This Community was founded as an institute in 1883 by Rev. Canon J. R. Ouellette, superior of the Seminary of St. Hyacinthe, and by the Rev. Mother St. Martha (Eléanore Charron). It was canonically established as a Congregation in 1890. The articles of its constitutions were approved by the Holy See in 1926. The purpose of this Community is to perform the general household tasks required in seminaries, bishop's palaces, schools, and colleges. It also administers charity. It has sixteen establishments, with 186 active mem­bers, in eastern Canada and in the United States.
