Sir Charles Peers Davidson

 

Davidson, Sir Charles Peers (18411929), judge, was born at Huntingdon, Lower Canada, in January, 1841, the son of Capt. Alexander Davidson and Marion Peers. He was educated at McGill University (B.A., 1863; M.A., 1867; B.C.L., 1873; D.C.L., 1875; LL.D., 1912), and was called to the bar of Quebec in 1864 (Q.C., 1876). In 1887 he was appointed a puisne judge of the Superior Court of the province of Quebec ; and from 1912 to 1915 he was chief justice of this court. In 1913 he was created a knight bachelor. He died at New York on January 29, 1929. He was the author of Statutes relating to banks and banking (Montreal, 1876).
