Reginald Molson Beckett

 

Of Dobell, Beckett & Co., Timber Merchants, 138 St. Peter Street, Quebec, Que. Born Quebec, Oct. 29, 1873, son of Thomas and Naomi Ann (Macpherson) Beckett. Educated: Quebec High School and Fettes College, Edinburgh, Scotland. Joined the firm in 1896, and became head in 1907. In February, 1918, was appointed Representative of Timber Controller, Great Britain, with British War Mission, Washington, D.C., as Director of Timber Supplies. Member of Council, Quebec Board of Trade. Served with the 8th Royal Rifles, 1915; enlisted 171st Battn., C.E.F., Jany., 1916; served in France, 1917; later transferred to Canadian Forestry Corps and gazetted Lieut.-Colonel. O.C., Royal Rifles of Canada, Quebec ; Commandant, Canadian Rifle Team, Bisley, 1920. Married Freda Montizambert, daughter of Frederick Montizambert, M.D., C.M.G., I.S.O., Ottawa . Clubs: Garrison ( Quebec ); Rideau ( Ottawa ); Mount Royal ( Montreal ); Junior Athenaeum ( London , Eng. ); Quebec Golf; Ottawa Golf. Recreations: Fishing, golf, shooting Anglican. Residence: Sunnifield, St. Louis Road, Quebec, Que.
