Papineauville, a village in Papineau county, Quebec, on the Ottawa river, and on the Canadian Pacific Railway, 85 miles west of Montreal. Founded in 1853, it was incorporated in 1896, and was named in honour of Louis Joseph Papineau, whose family owned the seigniory of La Petite Nation, in which the village is situated. The principal industries are farming, lumbering, and dairying; and the village contains a juniorate and novitiate of the Marists and two convents.
