Noël Chabanel

 

Chabanel, Noël (1613-1649), Jesuit missionary, was born in France on February 2, 1613, and entered the Jesuit novitiate at Toulouse in 1630. In 1643 he came to Canada as a missionary, and in 1644 was sent to the Jesuit mission in Huronia. He was murdered by an apostate Huron on December 8, 1849, and was canonized in 1930.
