Mont Joli

Mont Joli, a village in Rimouski county, Quebec, on the St. Lawrence river, 40 miles west of Matane, and 21 miles east of Rimouski. It is chiefly important as a railway centre, being the terminus of the Canada and Gulf Terminal Railway, and a divisional point on the Canadian National Railway. A small amount of lumbering and farming is also carried on. The village was founded in 1881 and, built upon a hill, took its name from its attractive situation. It has a weekly newspaper (La Vie Paroissiale).
