Joseph Kearney Foran

Foran, Joseph Kearney (1857-1931), author, was born at Aylmer, Quebec, on September 5, 1857, the son of John Foran and Catharine F. Kearney. He was educated at the University of Ottawa (Litt.D., 1894) and at Laval University (LL:B., 1880), and was called to the bar in 1881. He was successively a lawyer, a journalist, arid a civil servant; and eventually he became law clerk of the Canadian House of Commons. He died at Mount Royal, Quebec, in 1931. He was the author of The spirit of the age, on faith and infidelity (Montreal, 1885), An essay on obligations (Toronto, 1886), Irish-Canadian representatives (Ottawa, 1886), Poems and lyrics ; (Montreal, 1895), A garland: Lectures   and poems (Montreal ; 1931), Jeanne Mance (Montreal, 1931), and Blossoms of the past (Montreal, 1935).
