John Young Johnstone

 

Johnstone, John Young (1887-1930); painter; was born in Montreal, Quebec, on November 12, 1887. He studied art in Montreal and in Paris, France, where he was a pupil of Pau, Casteluche, Simon, and Menard. His early work showed much promise, and in 1920 he was elected an A.R.C.A. His later work was less successful. He died at Havana, Cuba, in destitution, on February 13, 1930.
