BERNIER, Alphonse, B.A., M.P.P., - of Bernier, Bernier & De Billy, Advocates, 1 St. au Matelt, Quebec; Promoter and Director, The Levis Ferry, Ltd. Born Levis, Que., July 7, 1861, son of L. J. A. and Malvina (Turgeon) Bernier. Educated: Quebec Seminary; Levis College (B.A.). Read law with Bossé & Languedoc; called to Quebec Bar, July, 1883; Doctor-in-Law of Laval University, 1887-1904; K.C., 1902; Bâtonnier of the Bar for the Province of Quebec; Examiner of Law for Province of Quebec; Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law, Laval University, Quebec. Elected to Quebec Legislature for Levis , 1912. Mayor, Levis, 1907-17. Appointed a Judge of the Court of Appeals, King's,Bench, for the Province of Quebec, March 3, 1921. Author of Treaty on the Civil Responsibility in Offences and Quasi Offences. Married Amanda de St.-Aubin, daughter of D. de St.-Aubin, Matane, Que., June 30, 1886 ; has one son. Conservative. Roman Catholic. Residence: 23 Wolfe Street, Levis, Que.
