Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary

 

Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. This Congregation was founded at Longueuil, Quebec, in 1843, by Mgr. Ignace Bourget, the Rev. Father Allard, O.M.I., and Mother Marie-Rose. It plays an important part in the field of Catholic education in Canada, and conducts a large number of schools throughout the Dominion. Its activities extend also to the United States, to Basutoland, and to Japan. The mother-house was transferred in 1860 to Hochelaga, and in 1925 to Outremont, Montreal.
