Nicolas Jérémie

Jérémie, Nicolas (1669-1732), fur-trader and author, was born at Quebec in 1669, and became a fur-trader. From 1694 to 1714 he was employed almost continuously by the Compagnie du Nord at the posts on Hudson bay; and his account of his life on Hudson bay, originally published in French in a collection of northern voyages issued at Amsterdam by J. F. Bernard in 1720, has been translated, with introduction and notes, by R. Douglas and J. N. Wallace, under the title of Twenty years of York Factory, 1694-1714 (Ottawa, 1926). He died at Quebec in October, 1732.
