François de Gallifet

 

Gallifet, François de (1666-1746), governor of Three Rivers (1710-20), was born at Aix-en-Provence, France, in 1666. He entered the army, and in 1688 he was sent to Canada. He held various posts in the colony, and from 1710 to 1720 he was governor of Three Rivers. He died at Avignon, France, in 1746.
