Edward Wentworth Beatty

 

BEATTY, Edward Wentworth, B.A., K.C. - President, Canadian Pacific Railway, Montreal; Director, Bank of Montreal; Director, Royal Trust; Trustee, Royal Victoria Hospital. Born Thorold , Ont., 1876, son of Henry and Harriet M. (Powell) Beatty. Educated: Toronto Model School; Upper Canada College ; University of Toronto; Osgoode Hall. Entered Canadian Pacific Railway service, 1901, as Asst. to General Counsel; became Asst. Solicitor, 1905; General Solicitor, 1910; Chief Counsel and Vice-President, 1914; President, 1918. Chancellor, McGill University, Montreal. Takes prominent part in work among Under Privileged Boys, and is President, Shawbridge Boys' Farm and Training School, Shawbridge, Que. Clubs: Mount Royal; St. James's; University (Montreal); York (Toronto); Rideau, and Country Clubs (Ottawa). Presbyterian. Residence: 570 Pine Ave. W., Montreal.
