Contrecoeur

 

Contrecoeur, a parish in Verchères county, Quebec, on the south bank of the St. Lawrence river, 30 miles below Montreal. It was settled as early as 1668, and in part of the seigniory of Contrecoeur, granted in 1672 to the Sieur de Contrecceur, an officer in the Carignan regiment.
