Champlain, a county in central Quebec, extends from the St. Lawrence river to the height of land, and lies between St. Maurice and Quebec counties. Its name was given to it in memory of Samuel Champlain. The Canadian National Railway crosses it, and it is drained by the St. Maurice river. Chief town, Batiscan. Pop. 68,057 [in 1948].
