Baie St. Paul

Baie St. Paul, a village in Charlevoix county, Quebec, on the St. Lawrence river, opposite Ile aux Coudres, and 62 miles north-west of Quebec on the Canadian National Railway. The name is derived from the bay of the St. Lawrence on which it is situated, the bay having been so named in the early days of the French colony, before there were any settlers on its shores. The village is the centre of a lumbering district; but it is also noted for the raising of black and silver foxes. [The picturesque village was the site of many paintings by Clarence Gagnon.]
