EVE, Arthur Stewart, M.A., D.Sc: Macdonald Professor and Director of Physics, McGill University, Montreal. Born Silsoe, Bedfordshire, Eng., Nov. 22, 1862, son of John Richard Eve and Frederica Somers Eve, both at Silsoe. Educated: Berkhamsted; Pembroke College, Cambridge M.A., Cantab.; D.Sc., McGill. Came to Canada, Jan., 1903. Assistant Master, Bursar, Marlborough College, 1886; Lecturer, McGill University, 1903; Asst. Professor, McGill University, 1904; Associate Professor, McGill University, 1905; Macdonald Professor, McGill University, 1912; Director of Physics, McGill University, 1919. Author of Scientific Papers to Philosophical Magazines, etc., on Radio-activity, etc. Captain, Universities Companies, 1915; Major, 148th Battn., 1915; Major, 20th Reserve Battn., R.H.C., 1917; Resident Director, Parkeston Quay, Harwich, of Admiralty Experimental Station, 1917; Colonel, C.B.E., 1918; F.R.S.C., 1910; F.R.S., 1917. Married Elizabeth Agnes Brooks, April 23, 1905; has one son and two daughters. Club: University (Montreal). Anglican. Residence: 490 Mountain Ave., Westmount, Que.
