The Canadian government realised that a significant population of French-speaking individuals of Canadian origins was in the United States. These individuals were often eager to demonstrate their loyalty by joining the army. The Canadian government, facing a shortage of recruits in Canada, attempted to lure Franco-Americans into the Canadian contingent. The ad says: "These men are stopping the Huns"; "Canadians from the United-States why do you not help them". "Join now. Tomorrow it will be too late". "Answer the Call to send more men". Present yourself to the closest depot". "Do it today". "Recruitment mission of Great Britain and Canada".
