William Walker

(1797-1844)

Walker, William (1797-1844), lawyer and journalist, was born at Three Rivers, Lower Canada, in 1797, and was called to the bar of Lower Canada in 1819. He became a successful lawyer; and in 1835 he was sent to England, with John Neilson, to present the views of the British constitutional party in Lower Canada to the British government. During the Sydenham administration, he was the editor of the Montreal Times; and he represented Rouville in the Legislative Assembly of United Canada from 1842 to 1843. He died in Montreal on April 10, 1844.
