William Henry Bell

Interior Architect and Designer, Bell 's Galleries, High Class Furnishers and Decorators, St. Catherine St., Montreal . Born Boscobel, Que., Nov. 8, 1865 , son of Daniel Bell, Manufacturer, of Montreal, and Emma Von Tromp, of England. Educated: Model and High Schools, Toronto. Notable works and achievements: Interior Windsor Station, Chateau Frontenac Hotel, Chateau Laurier Hotel, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank, New Sun Life Bldg. Residences: Lord Atholstan's, Lord Shaughnessy's, Sir Montague Allen's, R. B. Angus', Rideau Hall, Ottawa, Sir George Drummond's and a number of important structures throughout the Dominion. Began business career as Designer and Draughtsman for Herter Bros., New York, 1883; Colorist and Designer for W. J. Slone, New York , 1885; started present business in Montreal in 1888. Married Claire Callaghan, daughter of James Callaghan, Kingston , Ont., Dec. 7, 1887, has one daughter, Mrs. "Major" John W. Sifton. Clubs: United Empire, London ; Arts Club, New York ; St. Lawrence. Protestant. Residence: "Glenwood" Coteau Du Lac, Que.
