William Frederick Fletcher

 

Engineer and Naval Architect; President, Hall Engineering Ltd., 14 Jurors Street, Montreal. Born Antwerp, Belgium, March 18, 1880, son of William Robert and Elizabeth (Thornthwaite) Fletcher. Educated: Three years at Antwerp; four years, Brunham College, England; one year in Germany. Member of Institute of Naval Architects; Member, North East Coast Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders. Commenced with John Cockrel's Naval Architects, Belgium, one year; with John Dickinson's, Engineers, Sunderland, Eng., four years; went to sea to obtain certificates, during which time travelled extensively; Asst. Manager, Selby Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., at Selby, England, two years; came to Canada, 1905, to become Manager of the Hall Engineering and Shipbuilding Co.; appointed Vice-President, 1913; President, 1921. Director, Montreal School for the Blind; Director, Montreal Automobile League; Vice-President, Electric Welding & Shipbuilding Co.; Director, Ledoux Jennings Auto & Carriage Co., and several other concerns. Married Lily Fulton, Liverpool, 1905; has two sons. Society: A.F. & A.M. Recreation: Motoring. Presbyterian. Residence: 127 Mayfair Ave., Montreal.
