Wellington Dixon

 

Until June, 1922, Rector of High Schools of Montreal, Protestant Board of School Commissioners, now retired. Born Charlottetown Royalty, P.E.I., Feb. 20, 1857 , son of John Dixon and Janet McDonald. Educated: Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown ; McGill University (B.A., LL.D.). Five years' teaching in P.E.I. Gold Medallist in English Language and Literature, McGill. Mathematical Master in High School of Montreal for twenty years. Secretary of McGill University Club; Member of Graduates' Literary Society; Secretary, President and Life Member, of McGill Graduates' Society; Member of the Executive and President of the Teachers' Association in connection with McGill Normal School; Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and President, of Provincial Association of Protestant Teachers of Quebec; English Examiner of Dental Assoc. of Prov. of Quebec; Mathematical Examiner in Trafalgar Institute; Examiner of Association of Accountants in Montreal. Rector of High Schools of Montreal for nineteen years. President of Geographical Assoc., Quebec Branch; Member of the Committee on French, Provincial Assoc. of Protestant Teachers; Treasurer of Kirk Session of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul; Member of the Board of Management of the Presbyterian College; Governors' Fellow of McGill University; Member of History Association of Montreal; Member, Montreal Classical Club. Married Belle Greenshields, July 11, 1888 ; has one son. Clubs: Men's Canadian Club; Hampstead Golf. Recreation: Golf. Liberal. Presbyterian. Residence: 16 Weredale Park, Montreal.
