Sisters of the Presentation of Mary
Sisters of the Presentation of Mary (St. Hyacinthe). This Congregation was founded in 1796 at Thueyts, France, by the Ven. Marie Rivier for the instruction of poor girls. It soon spread over France, and in 1853 a first house was established in Canada. Today the Sisters are distributed in 103 establishments, 44 being located in. the United States, and the others in western as well as in eastern Canada. In both large cities and modest villages, the Sisters of the Presentation further the cause of secondary and primary education among t Indian children. Their normal, vocational, and indus-trial schools are particularly notable. The mother-house of this Congregation is established at St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.
