Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament
Sisters of the Most Holy Sacrament (Servants of the Most Blessed Sacrament). The Congregation of the Servants of the Most Blessed Sacrament was founded in France in 1858, two years after that of the Fathers of the Blessed Sacrament, by Blessed Peter Julian Eymard, with the coöperation of the venerated Mother Margaret of theBlessed Sacrament. It was definitely approved by Pope Leo XIII in 1885. The Congregation is cloistered and contemplative. Their chief duty is perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed day and night in their chapels. The religions are divided into two classes, choir and lay sisters. Their time is devoted to prayer, labour, and the fabrication of all that pertains to the altar. The mother house is in Paris, France; the Canadian novitiate is at 291 La Canardière, Quebec.
