Sillery

Sillery, a village in Quebec county, Quebec, on the north shore of the St. Lawrence river, 4 miles west of the city of Quebec. It is named after Noël Brulart de Sillery, a partner in the Company of New France who established here a seminary for the Indians. From 1680 to 1700, about 500 Abnaki were settled here, before they removed to the banks of the St. Francis river in Yamaska county.
